NHF’S Quick Prescript now available for download on the App Store

Quick Prescript, the National Health Fund's (NHF) prescription-filling application, is now available for download on devices with an iOS operating system, through the App Store.

The application was created by the government agency to provide a quick turnaround time for patients who receive prescriptions from public hospitals and clinics.

In addition to being available via smartphones, the Quick Prescript technology is currently being offered at 11 kiosks at Drug Serv pharmacies across the island.

Since its launch in May of this year, statistics from the NHF show that about 5,000 apps have been downloaded on active devices islandwide. In addition, almost 25,000 prescriptions have been submitted to date, with 18,230 sent through the kiosks and 6,625 forwarded using the Quick Prescript app. An additional 14 kiosks are to be installed to meet the growing demand.

More than 2.2 million prescriptions are expected to be generated in the public health sector this year, and since its takeover of all public-sector pharmacies, the NHF has been increasing its efforts to improve pharmacy services.

The agency recently provided funding of $59 million for the refurbishing of the Stony Hill Health Centre in St Andrew, to include the expansion of its pharmacy.

In addressing the official groundbreaking ceremony for the soon-to-be-refurbished health centre, Everton Anderson, chief executive officer of NHF, said, "The Quick Prescript makes medication more easily accessible, as we are seeing significantly reduced waiting times in our pharmacies, so we will definitely continue this programme."
