Lila Iké delivers sweet serenade
Though admitting she was nervous when she received the call to join the Burna Boy Live lineup, reggae act Lila Iké, the night's first performer, took her performance at the at the National Stadium in stride.
Iké was introduced by host Ms Kitty at 9 p.m. and came on singing Thy Will from her debut album The ExPerience. She followed up with Sweet Inspiration and gave the crowd gathered inside the stadium a show of her smooth vocals.
“I think this is the most people I have ever performed for,” she told the watchful audience before giving a rendition of her track Forget Me.
During her 30-minute set, she also performed Wanted, Second Chance and Dinero.
The Manchester High past student was also joined by reggae revivalists, mentor Protoje and Kabaka Pyramid for a cameo. But it was when she began crooning the first lines of her smash hit Where I’ m Coming From, that even cameras came out, and indeed, some lost their voices belting out the lyrics word for word.
Iké ended her performance by giving thanks to her team for their support over the years, making way for Popcaan.
