While he had strong individual performances representing the West Indies in 2022, middle-order batsman Rovman Powell shone brightly when he put on the Jamaican colours this year in the T20 format as well as the one-day format.

For the West Indies in international T20 play, he scored a century against England (107) and followed it up with half-centuries against India (68 not out) and Bangladesh (61 not out).

Regionally, Powell helped guide the Jamaica Tallawahs to the Caribbean Premier League T20 title last September for the first time in six years. Powell finished sixth for the most runs scored in the tournament with 281, which included two half-centuries, 17 fours, and 20 sixes. A month later, he would spearhead the Jamaica Scorpions title-winning campaign in the Caribbean Super 50 Cup, their first title since 2011. Powell would finish with the most runs scored in the tournament (346), which included 19 fours and 18 sixes.
