Jamaica was well represented ahead of the official start of New York Fashion Week, as supermodel Naomi Campbell, who is of Jamaican descent, pulled on New York-based, Jamaica-born designer Edvin Thompson, of the Theophilio label, for her collaboration with PrettyLittleThing. Campbell also worked on the collection with another emerging designer – Vicnate’s Victor Anate, based in Nigeria.
The runway show at Cipriani Broadway in lower Manhattan featured a cascade of models in figure-hugging designs embedded with crystals or made of sparkly metallics, many with plunging necklines, and Campbell herself, age 53, who closed the show in a sleek, clinging silver gown, her long tresses swaying behind her. Something Extra has the highlights.
