Wedderburn : Three points a must today

The ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup competition will resume action this afternoon with former champions St Elizabeth Tech (STETHS) hosting Lacovia High at 4 p.m., but 20 matches across seven zones will kick off half an hour earlier.

STETHS have been a powerhouse of schoolboy football, being arguably the most successful rural school team in recent times, and intend to maintain their reputation.

Head coach Omar 'Rambo' Wedderburn's side fell short of all three points after drawing 0-0 in their derby with Munro College. However, he said that he was satisfied with picking up a point, and said that the team will go into today's game with more driving force.

"Each game we play is for the three points. In this zone, no team will just lay down and let us run over them, so I know it's going to be a very physical game. Lacovia need this victory like us, so I expect it to be an exciting game," Wedderburn said.

When asked about the way STETHS plan to approach this game, given that they have scored 13 goals in just three games and Lacovia have conceded five in their three, Wedderburn said his only concern was the three points.

"We are only going for the three points, so whichever way we get it, so be it. It is important to us going forward," he said.

Wedderburn said he is also looking forward to a big performance from the team today as they did not deliver on Saturday. Lacovia, however, with a win today, would see themselves levelling points with their opponents at the top. In order to do so, they will have to get their backline right as this has been their biggest weakness.
