Shay Reid is among the standout revellers a part of Xaymaca's band this year.

She has no hands but that has not stopped her from turning up and jumping mas.

Reid, 29, was born in Jamaica and later migrated to Toronto, Canada.

"I was born like this so any looks I'm going to get I've already got and I'm now used to it," she said.

"I know people are going to stare but I'm here to have a good time and nothing is going to stop that," she said.

"I came here to have fun and look good while doing it and so if people are going to stare and say anything at least they'll say I looked good."

Reid, who was convinced to jump Xaymaca by her cousin, Kim, who made the trip with her, had a word of encouragement for persons like herself.

"The good thing about carnival is that it's for everyone and people are having so much fun they pay little attention to what anyone else is doing so if you wah come, come. Enjoy yourselves and don't let anything stop you from living your life. People might talk but don't pay attention to that."
