Distin fails to produce usual excellence, Williamson is national champion
National jumper Kimberly Williamson caused an upset, dethroning Lamara Distin to win the women's high jump at the JAAA National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium this afternoon.
Williamson captured the title with a height of 1.88m for victory, while Distin from Texas A&M University, who set the national record of 1.97 in April, could only manage 1.85 for second place.
Daniella Anglin of the University of South Dakota was third in 1.80.
Williamson has a season's and personal best of 1.93 which she set on June 5, currently putting her tied for 13th in the world this year.
The World Championships qualifying height is 1.96.
