Father: The hero in a child’s life
In many cultures, God is often called ‘Father’, highlighting the profound significance of this relationship. Amid all the relationships, the bond between a father and child is seen as one of the most important connections in a person’s life. While we might not always recognise a father’s value until it’s too late, some opportunities remind us to honour and appreciate this vital role.
Fathers play an essential role in shaping their children’s world view. Children often see the world through their father’s eyes and see themselves through their mother’s eyes. Fathers influence each phase of a child’s life in so many ways – silent care, their actions, the depth of the bond, and many unspoken lessons.
BEST GIFT FOR A FATHER
Simply saying “I love you, Daddy” or buying gifts isn’t enough. The most meaningful gift for a father is appreciating his efforts, respecting his decisions and, most importantly, spending quality time with him. Do not forget to value and be grateful for the contribution of his time, energy, love, and attention given.
Some people may have strained relationships with their fathers, which can lead to a tough start in life. Now is the time to forgive past grievances and recognise the role your father played in your life. The best gift you can give yourself and your father is to let go of hurtful memories and cultivate positive thoughts and feelings. There is no more valuable asset than this, as healthy relationships are built on positive interactions.
FATHERHOOD: A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY
Many men may not fully understand their significant impact on their children’s lives. It’s crucial for fathers to realise their role as the backbone and guide of a child’s world. Fathers are seen as figures of strength, support, and unconditional love. This role is divine, as fathers are creators and sustainers of children’s lives. This role is next to the eternal father, God. Be the father the same way you expected your father to or want God to be in your life.
Like a steadfast guardian, a father should never abandon his responsibilities, no matter how challenging they might be. Fathers must be wise and dedicated in their roles, providing unwavering support and guidance. When children make some mistake, don’t withdraw, but guide and allow them to grow with the support of your experience.
Fatherhood is a journey filled with immense responsibilities and rewards, a relationship that is full of strength and wisdom, love and support and can profoundly shape children’s lives and create a lasting legacy. Let us honour fathers, recognising their invaluable everlasting presence in our lives, and bow to them with respect and immense gratefulness.
