Tosca | Caught in a net of love and politics
Published:Tuesday | January 23, 2018 | 12:00 AM
Tosca tells the story of three people - a famous opera singer, a free-thinking painter, and a sadistic chief of police - caught in a net of love and politics.
Sir David McVicar's ravishing new production offers a splendid backdrop for extraordinary singing. Tosca features Sonya Yoncheva as Tosca and Vittorio Grigolo as Cavaradossi. The January 27 matinee will be transmitted live at 12:55 p.m. at Carib 5 as part of the Met's Live in HD series, which reaches more than 2,000 movie theatres in 73 countries around the world.
