Every day is a new opportunity to relish some good food. And with Food Trucks of Jamaica driving out Curbside Eats, the first unit from its meals, on-wheels line, you’ll have even more tastier possibilities.

It’s the brainchild of the autodidact culinary expert and owner of JYM Training fitness centre, Wendy Fletcher. Making her debut with Sweet and Simply Jamaican rum cakes a few years ago, Fletcher later dreamed of owning a restaurant. However, an unforeseen serge in the establishments of new eateries around her eventually compelled the food lover to be different. So she decided to offer a variety of ‘moving’ flavours to excite palates, not just around town, but across the 14 parishes.

“Everybody is tired of the same box lunch. So we want to do something different. We’re bringing a variety of tasty items on the menu, like tacos, pasta, and ribs. I figured a food truck would be a great idea. That way, I don’t have to wait on people to come I can go to them,” Fletcher told Food.

With a team of three talented chefs, Food Trucks of Jamaica promises to treat taste buds to mouthfuls of exquisite and epicurean wonders. From some original Jamaican bites perfected with a touch of culinary class, to an array of toothsome international choices, the food sanctum will bring life to any food fantasy you’ve been concocting.

The ackee and saltfish fritters with Scotch bonnet peppers and thyme remoulade, its signature dish, is one you should surely try. It’s not only an ideal morning-time treat, but is also a perfect selection for many vegetarians.

Fish and chips, a hot dish of English origin, is another scrumptious pick that will absolutely take your gustatory cells on an indelible joy ride. But on a more meaty matter, the incredible beef bowl is a pick you’ll never forget. This meal, consisting of juicy beef bone, perfected with soy sauce and ginger, served on a bed of rice, is always available for you to devour.

“We don’t want to do the traditional dishes. Our concept is to be able to provide you with a great meal at a reasonable price without having that expense of sitting in a restaurant, service charge, and all those additional costs,” Fletcher explained.

Fletcher describes the food as nothing short of amazing. She stressed that each meal is made with fresh herbs such as cilantro, basil, and tarragon, and spices – no powdered seasoning. Schools, banks, and other institutions, too, can join in the festivity that Food Trucks of Jamaica has to offer. In fact, Fletcher looks forward to bringing you the delightful experience whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Who knows? Curbside Eats could be making a stop near you today. Visiting and sending a direct message to @Foodtrucksofjamaica on Instagram is all it takes for you to find out when you’ll be able to savour glorious moments with fantastic food.
