Dominican Republic-based cane spirits specialist Pavol Kazimir once confessed, “Best ideas come while sipping rum.” With that in mind, and on the tip of the tongues – for those rum lovers, let’s introduce a premium rum truly worth tasting: Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve.

The Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve is the latest product from Worthy Park Estate. No strangers to spirits, this team is responsible for producing Rum-Bar Rum, a white overproof rum taking over the world by storm. From that success, preparations were subsequently put in place to tap into the premium rum market.

Over the last couple of years, the experts have been working behind the scenes to capture every sweet, flavourful and smooth note. Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve was the result of hard work and dedication. It was first launched overseas approximately three to four years ago and recently premiered locally to the public.

According to Marketing Manager of Worthy Park Estate, Tamika West, the company upscaled and started creating higher-quality product to promote a premium experience. “All the molasses that makes the rum comes from one estate. It allows for richer flavour and creates an extremely mellow and smooth adventure for your taste buds.”

This ultra-premium rum is 100 per cent copper pot still distilled, that is, aged six to 10 years and has absolutely no additives. “This is why it is a single reserve. As opposed to a blend of pot stilled with column stilled rums, pot stilled rum produces less in quantity and appeals from a high-quality standpoint.”

Recently, the spirits specialists did the honours of hosting an intimate rum tasting. Guests, who included diplomats, business moguls and Jamaican rum connoisseurs, were taken on an exclusive tour of the Worthy Park distillery for an up close and personal encounter where the ‘magic’ happens. The liquored excursion also highlighted the journey through time on the history and heritage of one of Jamaica’s oldest operating sugar estates.

The Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve is already available in select grocers, namely Loshusan and MegaMart in Kingston; and Progressive Grocers in Whitter Village and Bogue of Montego Bay. It can also be found on the shelves of certain bars and restaurants: Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records, Regency Restaurant, Strawberry Hill Hotel (all in Kingston) and HouseBoat Grill Restaurant in Montego Bay.

“This is definitely a drink for a rum lover. Even a whisky lover. They can find value in it. For sipping on the rocks or elevating your cocktails, it’s truly worth the exploration,” West added.
