Sometimes, the way to your lover’s heart is through tantalising their taste buds. With Valentine’s Day almost here, Julie Mango Restaurant is honouring the day of love by giving couples the most exclusive gastronomic gift: love boxes.

“We have various boxes with different meal options – salads, appetisers, wines, juices, and so much more. Any dishes from our menu can be done – pasta, burgers, salmon, shrimp,” owner Julie Ramchandani told Food.

Love box menu options include buffalo chicken dip; veggie flatbread; hurricane delight with shrimp or vegetables; the grill reaper, chicken satay skewers in a tasty peanut sauce or lamb kofta, a meatloaf dish, in garlic sauce. Hungry yet? This is only just the beginning.

The delightful dishes in the entree department range from goat cheese crusted salmon; garlic shrimp; Bombay fish; melted hearts burger; surf and turf burger to Thai curry tofu, chicken, shrimp and salmon. You can also make your own pasta, options which include vegetables, chicken, shrimp and salmon.

Inspired by a birthday box she once received, Ramchandani was so moved by the kind gesture that she incorporated a similar concept just for the special occasion, giving a savoury meets sweet twist to this pre-packaged gift. “I loved the idea so much that I decided to take the idea and reinvent it,” she added.

The love package includes a full meal: appetiser, entree, dessert, beverage and assorted sweet treats. With all the uncertainty out there, as far as the COVID-19 virus goes, the restaurateur wanted to supply a viable option for couples who aren’t big fans of dining out and mixing with big crowds. It’s a great way of expressing your love in an intimate fashion.

“The feedback so far has been great. People love the idea, not just for Valentine’s Day but for other occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and corporate events,” she said. Outside of the love boxes, Julie Mango Restaurant will cater to those looking to dine with a special Valentine’s Weekend menu, including delicious brunch and dinner options. Celebrations begin on Saturday, February 12 and go up to the official love day on Monday, February 14.

Love box orders close off by 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 12.
