Whether you’re preparing breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Kulture Kravings and its line of marinades strike the perfect balance of providing a tasty yet healthy addition to your meals. With five flavourful selections to choose from, including Turmeric, Fricassee, Jerk, All Purpose with Spinach, and Hot and Spicy with Annatto, you’ll be serving up delectable dishes in no time.

For co-founder Krishna Oram Brown, it was essential to use natural ingredients that are easy to digest and suitable for various mealtime creations. “My son was diagnosed with autism, and it became apparent that he struggled with digestion issues. In addition, he was sensitive to food containing gluten, dairy, and artificial food colouring. That pushed me to prepare his meals with all-natural food items,” Oram Brown shared.

“I focused on ingredients that could be sourced here in Jamaica; for example, I used annatto to create the Hot and Spicy Annatto marinade; this is a seed that provides its own flavour and is a natural food colouring. It helps to improve digestion, improve eye health and is rich in antioxidants. It’s very common here in Jamaica, and Annotto Bay in St Mary was named after it. Another one of our ingredients is turmeric, which is used for the Turmeric marinade. People love curry, but many don’t digest it well. So I used turmeric as the perfect alternative for curry powder as it’s rich in colour, flavour, and a range of health benefits. It is a natural anti-inflammatory, improves digestion, and is a welcomed boost for the immune system,” she continued.

Oram Brown described Kulture Kravings as innovative and value-added. She shared that the marinades were created to make cooking easier by reducing the time it takes to prepare meals. She remarked, “Jamaicans are known to use fresh herbs and spices to season their meats overnight to absorb as much flavour as possible. But because our marinades are specially formulated with maximum flavour, meats and other foods can be seasoned quicker and easier.”

Describing the All Purpose with Spinach marinade as living up to its name, the founder recommends using it for any dish. The use of spinach in this marinade packs a healthy punch as it is considered to be a brain food, and it helps to remove toxins from the body. Whether preparing meats, seafood, pasta, or a vegan meal, this marinade is sure to add a delicious taste.

Oram Brown credits her mother for her cooking skills, sharing that she taught her and her five siblings how to cook. “For my mother, teaching us to cook was a form of bonding, which I’ve held very near and dear to me. She also taught us to bake and make natural juices; I’ve done this with my family: my husband and two children. And I must say, it makes me happy to see my son playing an active role in the kitchen,” she smiled.
