Be fair, RUBiS

THE EDITOR Sir:

It seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same. From colonialism and slavery to Independence, and now fast-forward to 2019, colonialism and slavery yet again. What a complete and utter disgrace this row is between the Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association and French multinational RubiS. Why do multinationals believe they can come into our island and push us around as if we have little or no value.

For years, Jamaicans have worked tirelessly to create profitable entities, meeting and surpassing targets while contributing to the economy and increasing employment. Rubis has benefited tremendously! How can you terminate a contract without considering all the goodwill that has been developed over the years by, YES, your Jamaican partners?

It is completely unfair and demonstrates the vile tactics of this company. I demand that RubiS revisit its disastrous handling of this situation with our local gas station operators and address the concerns with tact, diplomacy and fairness.
