THE EDITOR, Sir:

It was so shocking to hear the news of the resignation of the minister of education. It is no secret that the minister is no stranger to making the news. Some of his highlights are: call for code of conduct for teachers, teachers with tattoos, Primary Exit Profile and his threatening to take over school boards.

For many, the former minister was one who came from among teachers and even responded to their every call. The minister would have made significant contribution to the ministry as it related to policy direction.

With all of this being said, it is noteworthy that he has been able to serve the people of Jamaica. No one would be of the belief that the minister would be gone in a matter like this.

Well, in the process of governance, anything can happen.

I would like to express gratitude for the time that he has served and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
