Socialism emphasises equality

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Socialism only fails where the USA deliberately pounces on it and destroys it.

Ever heard of Scandinavia? Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, etc?

ALL are socialist. They have the distinction of having the most contented people on Earth.

I’m not a socialist, but it can work. All socialism is, is a country stressing private enterprise, but with a government aggressively ensuring equity, not equal outcomes but equity, as in equal opportunity.

To do that, you guarantee equal access to housing, nutrition, education and healthcare. That’s all it is.

You know what other country practises socialism? China. I don’t think I have to elaborate on China, do I?

Don’t say China is a Communist country either. It practices a hybrid system – or Communism light, or SOCIALISM.
