As the haze of Kingston city gave way to the crisp, clean air of the St Andrew hillside along Skyline Drive, with its lemon grass scented atmosphere and the sounds of soothing rain, fitness lovers settled in for an evening of holistic wellness recently. This was the backdrop at Kamila’s Kitchen, located at 6 Skyline Drive where famed health and wellness coach, Kamila McDonald, engaged eager participants as a part of Malta’s Shake It Up campaign.

With the aim of amplifying the importance of fitness as part of self-care through, the session did not disappoint wellness and fitness enthusiasts who came for an elevated experience featuring a high-intensity workout, and yoga. The session also included a mindfulness and spiritually enriched segment that encouraged participants to focus on their inner well-being. Guests were also treated to tantalising vegan meals courtesy of Kamila’s Kitchen, which received rave reviews from many first-time partakers of vegan meals.

“Adopting a holistic approach is the most important thing when considering your mental and physical well-being. It considers the whole person rather than just focusing on one aspect of wellness. Physical, emotional and mental well-being are all interconnected and in order to take care of ourselves and to live with vibrance and balance, we have to think about all the different aspects of our well-being and nurture every single one of them,” McDonald asserted.

As the founder of The WellFIT Club, an online fitness and wellness platform, McDonald highlighted her seven pillars of wellness that are critical to successfully incorporating the holistic approach.

“Eat well, drink well, move well, sleep well, rest well, live well and feel well in order to experience the highest quality of life, which is what we all deserve. It’s not the easiest to manage and that’s why many people only focus on one or another – for example, the physical or the emotional. All are linked and we must maintain routines and habits that honour them all to reach to that ideal multidimensional level of holistic wellness,” she explained.

Lauding Malta for its campaign, she expressed appreciation for the brand’s active focus on holistic wellness. “I feel honoured to be able to work with Malta in this capacity. I love to inspire people to lead healthier lives and find their ‘why’ and for us to take a deep dive into all the aspects of our well-being and how we can nurture them more,”she said.

Reiterating the brand’s commitment to promoting self-care and championing care givers, Malta’s Assistant Brand Manager Cavell Robinson said the campaign also aimed to show consumers how Malta can be incorporated in a balanced lifestyle. “We’re emphasising balance, and as we saw in today’s session, there are so many ways to use what we have to prepare more nutritious options on this road to holistic wellness. Whether it’s through regular exercise, a balanced diet, stress management, or other self-care practices, taking care of your body and mind can help you feel your best. With so many options and approaches to fitness and wellness, it’s never too late to start making positive changes and prioritising your health.”
