Road deaths continue to climb

The number of persons killed on the nation’s roadways this year has surpassed 250, with just over three months remaining.

The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) reports that 251 persons have been killed in 232 crashes since January 1.

This is a nine per cent increase in road fatalities when compared with the 231 deaths recorded for the corresponding period last year.

It also represents a nine per cent jump from the 212 fatal crashes recorded for the similar period last year.
