The Jamaica Labour Party's Devon Wint has beaten Dr Christopher Tufton by 15 votes to earn the right to represent the party in West Central St Catherine in the next general election.

Dr Ken Baugh who currently holds the seat in Parliament was not seeking re-election.

There was jubilation in the constituency Saturday evening when it was announced that Wint had polled 211 votes to Tufton's 196.

Some 504 delegates were eligible to vote in today's poll.

From early afternoon, Wint had expressed confidence in winning the run-off.

According to him Tufton was not able to develop an organisation ‎in the constituency and did not spend enough time with the people there.
