Confident Colin certain of victory in St Andrew South chairmanship election

Not even the billowing smoke from a  fire near the large tent established for his supporters could cloud the merry-making for scores of Colin Campbell's supporters who have already 'declared' him the chairman of the South St Andrew constituency.

Although the voting of candidates had still not started more than 90 minutes after the slated time, his supporters were in a celebratory mood as they swayed to the music from a nearby sound system.
They were mostly clad in orange shirts bearing his name.

"I am going with Colin because they were giving Golding and him say him never want it," said Jones Town resident Dianne Reid.

Campbell, the former managing director for the state owned Jamaica Urban Transit Company, is going up against Opposition senator Mark Golding for chairmanship of the constituency of the PNP's St Andrew south.

The position is being vacated by Dr Omar Davies who has publicly endorsed Golding for the position.

A seemingly confident Campbell told The Gleaner that he is certain of victory.

He said he brings with him years of leadership and the ability to work with people to achieve goals.

"I am going to win. I will win," he declared.

Supporters of both candidates are gathered outside the entrance of the South St Andrew  Constituency office as only delegates are being granted admission.
A third candidate, Dr Wesley Morris withdrew his candidacy last night.
