Emergency work planned for Constant Spring Road after sewer line collapses

The National Works Agency (NWA) says emergency works are slated to begin today on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew where a collapsed sewer line has caused a section of the roadway to cave in near Market Place.

The collapse of the sewer line has resulted in the closure of three of five available lanes along the roadway.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the lanes will remain closed to vehicular traffic for at least the next three days while works are being undertaken.

He says the NWA is now working with the National Water Commission to have the sewer line repaired and the roadway reinstated.

Meanwhile, the NWA says motorists are being advised to use alternative routes, where possible.

The agency says those who decide to use Constant Spring Road should expect delays due to the closure of the three lanes.

He says one of the available lanes will allow for northbound traffic and the other for southbound traffic.
