Speaking at the corporation’s monthly meeting yesterday, Mayor Thomas said told plans are afoot to build 2,000 more houses in the municipality which he said will create more strain on the already overburdened Spanish Town Hospital.
He called for the Government to look seriously at building a public hospital for Portmore, noting that there are available lands in the municipality to construct the facility.
According to the Portmore Mayor, there are plans to construct a private hospital in the municipality, but he said a public facility is also needed for the community.
