UPDATE: Deaf-mute man charged in Mario Deane murder released from police custody

Damion Cargill, one of the three inmates charged with murder in connection with the 2014 death of Mario Deane, has been released from police custody and into the care of his relatives.
Presiding High Court Justice Vivienne Harris made the guardianship order today in the St James Circuit Court.
Cargill is a deaf-mute and suffers from a mental illness.
His attorney Franklyn Haliburton says the court also ordered that Cargill receives treatment at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
The St James Probation Office is to submit a report to the Registrar of the Supreme Court in another year on Cargill’s upkeep and medical treatment.
Cargill was charged along with fellow inmates Marvin Orr and Adrian Morgan for allegedly attacking Mario Deane on August 3, 2014 while they were in custody at the Barnett Street Police Station in St James.
Deane died at the Cornwall Regional Hospital three days later.
