Detectives assigned to the St Catherine Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) have charged a primary school teacher for having sexual intercourse with one of his students.

He was charged with having sexual intercourse with a person under 16, indecent assault and grievous sexual assault.

The police say the accused, who teaches the complainant at a primary school in the parish, allegedly convinced the child to engage in sexual activities with him on more than one occasion.

He is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine  Parish Court tomorrow to answer to the charges laid against him.

The police say his name is currently being withheld to facilitate further investigations.
