The Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA) is renewing its call for the Energy Minister to fast forward the process to compensate motorists who submitted claims related to the bad gas saga.

Hundreds of motorists were hit by contaminated gas in late 2015.

More than 380 complaints were submitted to the Consumer Affairs Commission about the damage to motor vehicles caused by bad gas, but to date, no agreement has been reached regarding compensation for those affected.

In a statement this morning, the JGRA lamented that motorists are yet to receive compensation, even though claims have been submitted to prove that their motor vehicles were damaged by the contaminated gas.

The association noted that the investigation into the saga was inconclusive as no pointed evidence could be established as to who was at fault.

However, the JGRA argued that as a goodwill gesture and in the interest of the motoring public, the Energy Minister should bring the matter to a close by finding a way to compensate the affected motorists.
