Some of the illegal guns found at the wharf in Kingston today.

A total of 20 illegal firearms were intercepted at the wharf earlier today.

Law enforcement officials confirmed, too, that a large quantity of assorted ammunition was seized.

The cache of weapons include four rifles, one sub-machine gun and 15 handguns, sources told The Gleaner.

There has been no official comment from the Police High Command.

Today's find is similar to one in October last year when 26 illegal weapons, 10 in the first instance and 16 in a subsequent search, were found at the wharf. Also found were 641 rounds of ammunition, multiple magazines and a silencer.

Four men were later arrested and charged in connection with the find.
