NWC reintroduces water restrictions as storage levels decline

The National Water Commission (NWC) has reintroduced piped water restrictions amid what it calls rapid declines at its storage facilities.

In a statement today, the NWC said communities served by the Hermitage Dam will now be receiving water based on daytime and night-time schedules.

It said daytime supplies will run from 6 a.m to 6 p.m and will be available to St Andrew communities above the West King’s House Road intersection with Constant Spring Road all the way to Duhaney Park.

Meanwhile, communities below the West King’s House Road intersection will get night time supplies from 6 pm to 6 am.

These communities are bordered by Cassia Park and Rose Town.

In January, regulations were implemented for Corporate Area communities served by the Mona Treatment Plant.

The NWC said these communities are now experiencing low pressures or no water conditions between 9:30 p.m and 5 a.m, daily.

Sections of Mona Heights, Hope Road, Molynes Road, Half Way Tree Road, downtown Kingston and Upper Maxfield Avenue are some of the communities served by the Mona plant.

The NWC said its systems in other parishes have also been affected by dry conditions.

The NWC said the trucking of water has been increased in these parishes.
