All Correct, Also Correct fancied

A new season of racing gets under way at Caymanas Park today, the 'Fan Appreciation Day' 10-race programme featuring the 14th running of the McKay Security Trophy race over 1820 metres ($180,000 claiming) to be run in two divisions.

This race usually offers a whopping purse of $1 million, but provision is in place for it to be increased to $1.5 million should the race be divided due to a large number of entries. This being the case, each section will offer a purse of $750,000.

Also on the holiday programme is the three-year-old and up overnight allowance race for the Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) Fan Appre-

ciation Day Trophy over 1820 metres to be contested by seven starters, including the highly fancied stable companions, ALL CORRECT and ROYAL VIBES, from the stables of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta; and the traditional New Year's Day Trophy race over 1300 metres in which the recent winner ALSO CORRECT from the DaCosta stable looks the one to beat in a field of six.

Division One of the McKay Security Trophy has attracted 11 starters but, to my mind, SISTA MARGARET, who was second to the out-of-class SAINT MARY over this trip on December 13 when closing well, should go one better.

She was claimed by in-form trainer Lawrence Freemantle for former champion owner Carlton Watson out of that race, and with connections opting for Shane Ellis, SISTA MARGARET, now dropped in class and that much fitter, should lead home old rivals YES SHE WILL and EL PATRON from the convenient mark of $53.0kg.

Both YES SHE WILL and EL PATRON finished less than a length behind her in third and fourth places, respectively, in the race won by SAINT MARY and should be highly competitive. But a fit SISTA MARGARET should have their measure once again, especially with the richest purse by far at this level in the offing.

Ten will face the starter in Division Two and Ellis is tipped to complete the double with ante-post favourite LAPTOP, who looked a cut above this level when scoring in a fast time (1:42.4) over a mile on October 20.

Trained by Anthony Smith, the five-year-old son of Distorted reports in good nick and should win from the

down-in-class ABOVE THE RADAR, who won back-to-back races going two turns in October, and PRIESTKING, who finished a close second to OH MY GRANDPA over 1400 metres last Saturday.

Today being the annual CTL 'Fan Appreciation Day, racing fans will be treated to free entry to the Clubstand and Grandstand areas. Lunch and drink specials will also be available, while free soup will be offered for Clubstand and North Lounge patrons.

Other firm fancies on the card are down-in-class PRIMERO (knocking at the door) to win the second race over 1100 metres for $250,000-$210,000 claimers, LORD STORM in

the third, LASHING FORCE

to beat the recent winner FRANKESTORM in the seventh over the straight, and recent winner KING NEBARUE to stave off FLAGRANS and MUSIC DIRECTOR in the 10th and final race.
