Seeking My Dream stars at Caymanas Park

Reigning 'Horse of the Year' SEEKING MY DREAM turned in another smashing performance at Caymanas Park yesterday to win the 3-y-o and up open allowance race over 1500 metres by four lengths, covering the distance in the smart time of 1:31.3 on a slow surface.

Racing for the first time since his historic win in the $6.5 million Diamond Mile on December 5, SEEKING MY DREAM, installed a 1-5 favourite with former champion Omar Walker riding for 15-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and Member of Parliament Derrick Smith, stalked the leader ALL CORRECT and the chasing CAMPESINO until going through on the inside entering the straight.

Thereafter, it was smooth sailing as the classy 4-y-o colt by Seeking The Glory out of the 2008 'Horse of the Year' Alsafra, won, going away from the consistent CAMPESINO (5-2) in a field of seven.

It was smiles all around and kudos from connections following the performance of SEEKING MY DREAM.

CONFIDENT OF WIN

"Although this was his first race since the Diamond Mile, I was confident he would win; maybe not in such cavalier fashion," said re-elected MP Smith, accompanied by his sons, Jay and Duane.

Winning rider Walker said SEEKING MY DREAM was so sharp that he could hardly contain him in third passing the half mile.

"He pulled for his head, leaving the half mile and effortlessly improved into second behind his stable companion, All Correct ... and it was over in a matter of strides," said the four-time champion.

DaCosta said that with this performance, SEEKING MY DREAM has firmly established himself as the best horse in the country.

"His major objective is to win the Diamond Mile again in December and "I'm excited about his prospects," said the leading trainer.

Meanwhile, FEDORA, at odds of 7-1 with leading jockey Dane Nelson aboard and 9-5 favourite ORPHEUS (Shane Ellis) won the respective co-feature races over 1200 metres, the Hot Line Stakes for 3-y-o fillies and Sir Howard Stakes for colts and geldings in fine style.
