KC win 3-1 but coach wants more

Kingston College (KC) coach Ludlow Bernard said that he was not totally pleased with his team's performance despite their 3-1 win over Excelsior High in Group E of the ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup at the Stadium East field yesterday.

National Under-17 player Renato Campbell (43rd), Ronaldo Robinson (54th), and Jahmari Morrison (85th) were the goal scorers for KC. Ryan Spence netted the consolation goal for Excelsior in the 82nd minute.

The victory moved KC, who are unbeaten in the competition, to 15 points from five games, while Excelsior remain on 10.

Bernard said, that his team still had a lot more work to do in the defence and midfield areas.

"We will have to examine the goal against us because it was totally against the script and we were really looking for a clean sheet," said Bernard.

"It was an error, and so we have to go back to the training pitch and resolve that particular matter, but at the same time, it is good to see other persons other than (Rashawn) Mackinson getting on the score sheet," he said.

Our ambition

Bernard added: "It is our ambition to really get the team to be an all-round one. We still have some areas that we think we could do a lot better. I wasn't particularly pleased with our midfield play because we can certainly do a lot better."

Playing in front of a capacity crowd, Campbell gave the 'Purples' the lead when he ran by three defenders to fire home before half-time.
