ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC):

Nicholas Pooran has been appointed as the new white-ball captain by Cricket West Indies.

The announcement follows last month’s retirement of veteran Kieron Pollard after nearly three years in the role.

Pooran, who is currently plying his trade in the Indian Premier League, has been serving as vice-captain and led the side in Pollard’s absence.

His first assignment will be a three-match One-Day International series away to minnows, the Netherlands, starting month end.
