Good job from cops

The Editor, Sir:

The Jamaica Constabulary Force's (JCF) constant vigilance on the road should put to shame some of its critics. The members are no paragons of perfection but there seems to be a concerted effort to live up to their motto. I lift my hat to them for the work they are doing.

Too often, we are prone to condemn members of the force for their lawless behaviour. Too often, we rile about their extrajudicial killings. Too often, we show contempt for their immoral behaviour. However, when some members do or even try to do the correct thing, they become unsung heroes. They seem to be invisible.

How can one not see members of the JCF intercepting motorists on the road? If one drives, then one should know how lawless and evil some of these drivers are. The number of checkpoints has escalated. How can one not see the improvement in answering calls? Our active justice groups which blame them should also praise them whenever they fulfil their purpose.

In spite of mistakes made by members of the force, I register my gratitude to them and congratulate them for a job well done.

I am, etc.,
