No Shelly-Elaine clash later, usual suspects through to 100 final
Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah booked her place in tonight’s final of the women's 100m event at the JAAA National Senior and Junior Athletics Championships after winning her semifinal heat at the National Stadium.
In fact, Thompson-Herah leads all qualifiers into the final after clocking 10.91 seconds in semifinal two. Shericka Jackson and Kemba Nelson also secured their spots in the final after finishing second and third respectively in the event with equal times of 10.98.
Brianna Williams is also through to the final after winning semifinal one in 10.99 ahead of Remona Burchell, 11.15, and Jonielle Smith, 11.23.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce left the blocks, took a few steps, but never went further. The fastest woman in the world this year does not have to compete over 100 metres as the reigning World Champion.
The other qualifiers for the final are Natalliah Whyte 11.27 and Natasha Morrison 11.31 are the other qualifiers for the final.
