Reggae Girlz squad looks good

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This is TVJ’s Prime Time News question, which was posed to the public on Thursday evening, May 23, 2019: “Are you pleased with the selection of the Reggae Girlz squad to France – Why or why not?”

I won’t go into much details about the selection, or what will be the outcome of this top-class event; but all I want to say is that our Reggae Girlz are looking very good and ready to take on the world. And they are looking confident like the late, great Muhammad Ali. And they speak and act confidently like him.

They are looking physically good, too. They look real good on national TV; they look very good and impressive on paper, too; their movements and body language are in high gear – and they seem very united and cooperative as a team ought to be. Unity is strength!

We are keeping our fingers crossed. We are positive that our Girlz will do their utmost and will try to win this FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. We know, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are quite capable – and are far more experienced in doing so.

We are anticipating some exciting display in these matches and we are also hoping that our Girlz will shine like the noonday sun. At this time, we remember also, our beautiful Sunshine Girls. We know they are backing our Reggae Girlz to be victorious over their opponents as well.

As our first governor general, Sir Clifford Campbell, said many years ago, pertaining to the Australian cricket tour of the West Indies under captains Ian Chappell and Clive Lloyd: “May the better team win”. I also say the same: May the better team win, but I definitely want our Reggae Girlz to take home this FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy.
