There are indications that today’s much anticipated poll to select a candidate to represent the People’s National Party (PNP) in South East St Ann has been pushed back.

Member of Parliament for the constituency, Lisa Hanna, revealed yesterday that the PNP general secretary has instructed that the selection exercise be conducted on September 26.

School teacher Lydia Richards has signalled that she intends to challenge Hanna to become the PNP’s candidate in the upcoming general elections, widely expected before the end of the year.

Richards and two other councillors in the constituency have split ranks with Hanna, who is also the Youth Minister, and the three have been campaigning to unseat the incumbent MP.

The PNP secretariat also announced yesterday that the contest between incumbent Member of Parliament for North East St Elizabeth Raymond Pryce and businessman Evon Redman had been postponed indefinitely.
