ICAJ 'anticipating change, adding value'

Bringing together distinguished experts in the areas of business strategy, finance, accounting, economics and technology, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) staged its 50th-anniversary business conference at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel last weekend.

Held under the theme, 'Anticipating Change ... Adding Value', this was the perfect opportunity for the ICAJ to showcase 50 golden years of achievement, even while accepting that the way forward was to stimulate thoughts on the emerging social, business and technical matters relevant to the profession.

 

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES

 

The two-day event was attended by more than 450 participants who were sensitised about issues of significant interest to the local, regional and global business and accountancy environment.

President of ICAJ, Bruce Scott, described the conference as one that demonstrates the strategic role that the accountancy profession can play in supporting business development and robust regional and global economies.

Networking opportunities were the order of the two-day event, which closed last Saturday night on a mellow note of music, food and great fellowship at the Jamaica Night Party at The Ruins at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
